How I work

"Of all my credentials as a therapist, my most significant is that I’m a card-carrying member of the human race.”

- Lori Gottlieb

I am here to help

As a Registered Psychologist, I am trained to help people through their most difficult struggles, using my humanness to connect with yours. I have studied the human mind, behavior, and relationships and I have learned how to apply this information in a counselling setting to help people achieve mental wellness.

Find Hope on the Horizon.

I help women who feel stuck, defeated, or not good enough overcome obstacles and find a way forward towards their desired goals and life.

I also help couples who are drifting apart, emotionally and physically distant, and not communicating, reconnect and reignite their spark as they remember why they originally became a couple.

I listen to understand—not to judge.

First and foremost, I am to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your concerns and work towards your goals. I listen with empathy and strive for understanding; I know life can be tough, and it is human to struggle sometimes.

I hope my clients feel comfortable, respected, and understood.

You and I are a team

I view counselling as a collaborative process; you and I are a team. You will bring your personal experience and knowledge (you know yourself best), and I will bring my psychological expertise. Together, we will explore your personal goals, discuss what is holding you back, and work on what needs to heal and what needs to change.

We will build upon your strengths and learn new skills as needed.

We will find what works for YOU.

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. What works for one person might not work for everyone. Throughout our work, we will keep an open dialogue about what you find helpful and what you find less helpful, and I will use this information to adjust our sessions accordingly.

I want counselling to be helpful and beneficial for you.

I follow evidence-based theories.

The practice of psychology is science-based. I use theories that research shows can be helpful.  Below are the main theories that influence my work (it is okay if you are not familiar with these models. You can ask any questions about these approaches, and we will discuss them as we make our treatment plan).

  • Solution Focused Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Feminist Therapy
  • EMDR Therapy

In addition to the above approaches, my work with couples is guided by the works of:

  • John and Julie Gottman
  • Ellyn Bayder
  • Michele Weiner-Davis
  • Esther Perel

I Welcome Diversity.

I welcome all types of diversity, including people of all body sizes, ethnicities, races, religions, genders, and sexualities.

I focus on Women's Mental Health and Couples Counselling.

Although I work with many different client concerns, I work more frequently with clients working on the following areas:
