I am sorry for your loss
and I am sorry you are here - in this corner of the internet, researching supports for pregnancy and infant loss. You might be searching for information, a space to process your emotions, tools to cope, a space to heal, and a space to explore a path forward.
I know you are hurting. You are not alone in this
A deep Grief
The loss of a wanted baby or pregnancy can bring deep grief. You were attached to that baby, and you are feeling the profound loss. No matter how far along you were. You are also grieving the hopes and dreams you had for your baby, your family, and yourself.
Pregnancy loss can be isolating. Perhaps people in your life did not know about the pregnancy. Maybe they did know about the pregnancy and now they need to be informed about the loss.
Despite being pretty common (roughly 1 in 4 pregnancies will end in loss), it is a type of loss that few people discuss. Many people also do not know how to support someone going through pregnancy loss. Cue the well-intentioned-but-not-very-helpful comments from loved ones.
Therefore, pregnancy loss can feel extremely lonely at a time when you need support the most.
It is all hard.
Pregnancy Loss can be traumatic.
In addition to the pregnancy loss therapy outlined above, if trauma is part of your loss experience, we can process and heal using EMDR therapy. For more information on EMDR therapy, click here and Birth and Reproductive Trauma therapy, click here.
Pregnancy Loss can impact relationships
You and your partner are going through this together, but you also are experiencing it in very different ways. It is not uncommon for a discrepancy exist in how partners experience the pregnancy loss. For example, it might be helpful for one person to talk about the loss while it is not helpful for the other person to talk about the loss.
This can lead to reduced understanding and support and can also place a strain on the relationship.
Pregnancy Loss can impact mental health.
In addition to the grief, many people who experience pregnancy loss might also struggle with shame, self-blame, resentment, envy, anger, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Therapy for pregnancy loss can help make sure you are coping and managing these additional mental health struggles.
It can be really hard. You do not need to struggle alone.
Pregnancy and infant loss can involve many experiences:
- before and after abortion care

- late pregnancy loss
- recurrent pregnancy loss
- termination for medical reasons (TFMR)
