Therapy to Improve Self-Esteem

Low self-esteem can be difficult

Think for a moment about all the messages you received, over the course of your life, directly or indirectly, about all the ways you are not good enough.

Not pretty enough...Not smart enough... Not thin enough... Not popular enough... Not successful enough... Not interesting enough...

We internalize these messages, which cause us to believe we are not enough or that our worth is conditional. We feel inferior, flawed, like a failure, and not good enough. This impacts how we show up in relationships, career, and social life, and can dramatically impact our overall mental health and well-being.

Self-Esteem is the relationship you have with yourself...

  • Are you friendly and nice to yourself?
  • Do you respect yourself?
  • Do you value yourself?
  • Do you see value and worth as you are right now?
  • Are you content with the result of trying your best?

OR...

  • Are you critical of yourself?
  • Do you never feel good enough, no matter how much you try?
  • Do you have a long list of things you wish you could change about yourself?
  • Do you not like yourself?
  • Do you compare yourself to others?
  • Do you say mean things to yourself?

We can't be good at everything, all the time; we all have limitations. But for a lot of people, not "measuring up" creates distress and leads to further self-loathing.

You can improve your self-esteem NOW!

What I hear from a lot of people is: I'll like myself more when...

  • I lost 10 lbs
  • I get a new job
  • I have a boyfriend
  • ...and so on...

But what about now?

Yes, NOW! At this very point in time... regardless of your weight... or job... or relationship...

You are worthy and deserving of SELF-LOVE and SELF-COMPASSION

I know what I'm writing is easier said than done, which is why I offer Self Esteem counselling to help people through the process. In our work, we will explore the many, many great things about you. We will explore what is preventing you from liking yourself and find a balance between making positive changes and compassionately accepting limitations or imperfections. I work with clients to find their "good enough" or "perfectly imperfect" and, in the process, find more self-compassion and more self-esteem.
